Anthony Cotton: 2009 PMF

The PMF Program provided Anthony Cotton with the opportunity to follow his passion for promoting poverty reduction and economic growth in Africa through responsible private sector development. As an Investment Officer in the Office of Development Credit at the U.S. Agency for International Development, Anthony structures partial credit guarantees in a variety of sectors (i.e., agriculture, microfinance, small/medium enterprises) with financial institutions in Africa. These risk-sharing guarantees mobilize private capital to stimulate sustainable development.

During his first PMF rotation, Anthony supported President Obama's Global Engagement Initiative through facilitating three international conferences on promoting entrepreneurship in Muslim-majority countries. In an upcoming rotation, Anthony will develop and monitor microfinance projects in West and East Africa.

Anthony is a founding member and coordinator of LGBT PMFs, a group dedicated to strengthening the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender PMF community.
