2016 Application

The PMF Class of 2016 application was held September 28-October 14, 2015. Information on the PMF Class of 2017 application can be found at the  2017 Application webpage.

Timeline

Applicant Webinar:  A webinar for interested applicants. This webinar was not recorded; however, the content covered can be found throughout the Become a PMF section and the Academia Presentation.

Monday, September 28 - Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Application for the PMF Class of 2016 opens via a job opportunity announcement on USAJOBS at www.USAJOBS.gov; search for "Presidential Management Fellows." The announcement will only be visible during the application period. Eligible applicants must also complete the on-line assessment prior to the announcement closing.

Wednesday, October 14, 2015 Application for the PMF Class of 2016 closes at 11:59pm (ET)

How to Apply

Addition information can be found under the Application Process webpage. The following outlines the steps for applying to the PMF Class of 2015 only.

STEP 1

Prepare Before You Start
Allow at least 3 hours to complete the entire application to include the biographical information, document submission, the On-Line Assessment, and required essays. Please review the Application Process and Application Tips webpages for additional preparations.

STEP 2

Applying for the PMF Program
From USAJOBS (www.USAJOBS.gov), enter "Presidential Management Fellows" as the keywords to search for the announcement. Follow the directions to apply. NOTE: The announcement will only appear when it is open on USAJOBS. The announcement will contain a link to apply through the PMF Program's TAS (Talent Acquisition System), where applicants will either create a new applicant account to login and apply or log into their existing account.

Check System and Browser Requirements
Check your system and browser prior to starting your application to ensure you meet the specified requirements. Various system requirements can be found under the Application Process webpage.

Begin the Application
Follow the instructions to create a user account or log into an existing account. Have your documents ready for submission. The application requires a resume and a transcript (and/or alternative). Please follow the transcript requirements and request from your school early. The PMF TAS (application system) can be found at https://apply.pmf.gov/pmf.

Submit Veterans' Preference Documents (if applicable)
If claiming veterans' preference, follow the instructions during the application. Additional information can be found under the Veterans' Preference webpage.

STEP 6

Submit Documentation
All applicants must submit a resume and transcript (and/or alternative). Upload documents under the corresponding document type of the file. Applicants requesting a reasonable accommodation must submit supporting documentation.

 STEP 7

Complete the On-Line Assessment and Essays
The On-Line Assessment takes approximately 1-2 hours to finish.  Also, ensure completion of all required essays. Please review the Assessment Preparation Guide for additional information.

STEP 8

Certify and Submit Application
Consult the announcement before certifying responses and submitting your completed application. You will be prompted to certify that you completed your application, including the On-Line Assessment and essays, independently. Once you certify your responses, your application will be submitted and check marks should appear across the top of your application for each section of the application.

STEP 9

Application Review
During the application process,you will be able to review the completed application (with the exception of the On-Line Assessment). You may make changes to any items, other than the On-Line Assessment once it is completed, prior to the announcement closing date.

STEP 10

Check Application Status
Log back into your application account to check your status. All applicants will be informed via email when Semi-Finalists are selected. Then all Semi-Finalists will be notified via email when Finalists are selected.

In-Person Assessments

The 2016 In-Person Assessments are expected to take place at the:

U.S. Department of State, Annex 44, 301 4th St, SW, Washington, DC 20547

The closest Metro Rail Stations are:  Federal Center SW and L'Enfant Plaza.

The dates for the 2016 In-Person Assessments are reflected in the timeline above. Semi-Finalists will be sent a personalized invitational email to schedule their In-Person Assessment shortly after Semi-Finalists are announced. Semi-Finalists will be able to self-register and self-reschedule up to the registration deadline. Please note that assessments for PMF Semi-Finalists are limited to PMF Semi-Finalists and assessments for PMF STEM Semi-Finalists are limited to PMF STEM Semi-Finalists.

All Semi-Finalists are reminded to review the Assessment Preparation Guide and monitor the News & Events for any updates. The Guide includes details on the In-Person Assessments and using Event Scheduler, the on-line registration system.
