Become A PMF

2015 Application

The PMF Class of 2015 application was held October 1-15, 2014.

Applicants will need to submit a resume, transcript, and supporting documentation for requesting reasonable accommodations, claiming Veterans' Preference, and/or Native American (Indian) Preference.  See the Application Process webpage for additional information.

When the application opens, applicants will be prompted to create an on-line account and will be issued an Applicant Identification Number (ID#). When creating your applicant account, please be sure to use an accessible email address, remember your Applicant ID# and secret question/answer. If you are locked out of your account, you will need to remember the answer to your secret question. Those with existing accounts will need to login using their Applicant ID# or the email address they used upon creating the account. Many applicants create an account with their school email address and try to login via their personal email address. Please use your Applicant ID# for logging into the system and referencing it when corresponding with the PMF Program Office.

Applicants are encouraged to consult the Become A PMF and FAQs sections of the website for general information, and the Assessment Preparation Guide for details about the assessment process.

September 30, 2014

A one-time Applicant Information Session that will focus on a general overview of the PMF Program, the 2015 PMF application, and a panel of current Fellows offering their advice and experiences.  There will also be an opportunity to ask questions throughout the presentation.

October 1, 2014

Application for the PMF Class of 2015 opens via a job opportunity announcement on USAJOBS at; search for "Presidential Management Fellows" during the open period. Eligible applicants must also complete the on-line assessment and on-line essays prior to the announcement closing.

October 8, 2014 A question and answer session where applicants may submit questions regarding the 2015 PMF application cycle. 
October 15, 2014 Application for the PMF Class of 2015 closes at 11:59:59pm (Eastern Time)
Two Weeks After Announcement Closes Deadline for applicants to submit supporting documentation for any claims for Veterans' Preference and/or Native American (Indian) Preference
4-6 Weeks After Announcement Closes
  • Applicants notified of eligibility
  • Semi-Finalists selected and notified
  • Semi-Finalists start scheduling their In-Person Assessment

How to Apply

The PMF Program solicits applicants annually via an announcement on USAJOBS ( Announcements will include detailed instructions on how to apply.


Prepare Before You Start
Allow at least 3 hours to complete the entire application to include the biographical information, document submission, the On-Line Assessment, and required essays.



Check System and Browser Requirements
Check your system prior to starting your application to ensure you meet the specified requirements. Various system and browser requirements can be found under Application Process.


Applying for the PMF Program
From USAJOBS (, enter "Presidential Management Fellows" as the keywords to search for the announcement when the application is open.


Begin the Application
Follow the instructions to create a user account in the PMF TAS (Talent Acquisition System) or log into an existing account. Have your documents ready for submission. The PMF TAS can be accessed at


Submit Veterans' Preference Documents (if applicable)
If claiming veterans' preference, follow the instructions during the application. Additional information can be found under Veterans' Preference.


Submit Other Documentation
All applicants must submit a resume and transcript. Applicants requesting a reasonable accommodation and/or claiming Indian Preference must submit supporting documentation.


Complete the On-line Assessment and Essays
The On-Line Assessment takes approximately 1-2 hours to finish.  Also, ensure completion of all required essays.


Certify and Submit Application
Consult the announcement before certifying responses and submitting application to verify completion of all requirements.

In-Person Assessments

The 2015 In-Person Assessments will take place at:

U.S. Department of State, Annex 44,  301 4th St, SW,  Washington, DC 20547

Closest Metro Rail Stations:  Federal Center SW and L'Enfant Plaza

The dates for the 2015 In-Person Assessments will take place December 8, 2014, through January 30, 2015. Semi-Finalists will be sent a personal invitation to schedule their In-Person Assessment shortly after Semi-Finalists are announced. NOTE:  Assessments for PMF STEM Semi-Finalists are limited.

Morning sessions start at 8:00am and afternoon sessions start at 1:00pm. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your start time.
